Construction Administration
Larry Nichols, principal, is a founding partner of Capstone Project Services and brings over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry. His experience includes serving as a manufacturer’s representative, a sub-contractor, an owner’s representative and as a Project Manager for two architectural firms. Larry has extensive experience in supermarket design and construction and in 2006, earned his Certified Supermarket Designer (CSD) designation from Food Marketing Institute.
Before founding Capstone Project Services, Larry spent eight years with a large A/E firm, managing their Roanoke office which serviced Kroger, Food Lion, Winn-Dixie and other food retailing clients. Larry earned his B.A. in Architecture from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Mark Hughes, principal, is a founding partner of Capstone Project Services and is a registered architect with over 25 years’ experience. He has worked in offices that focused on a wide range of projects, including high-end residential, multi-family housing and mixed-use design. Mark has developed a focus on commercial retail, having spent twelve years with Lowes in their Design and Construction Department. Most recently, Mark was Project Architect with a large A/E firm in their Roanoke office.
Mark earned his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from the Southern Institute of Technology in Marietta, Georgia. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and is registered in Georgia, Virginia and West Virginia.
Obadiah Swafford, principal, is a partner at Capstone Project Services and is a registered architect with over 19 years of experience. His experience includes a broad range of project types including secondary and higher education, retail, banking, medical office, single and multi family residential, mixed use and residential development planning. Obadiah was also an assistant professor of architecture at Louisiana Tech University where he taught classes and design studios focused on digital fabrication and design-build. He most recently was part of the national operations team for the number one publicly traded homebuilder in America.
Obadiah earned his Bachelor of Environmental Design from Ball State University and his Bachelor and Master of Architecture degrees from the University of Arizona. He holds his NCARB certification and is a member of the American Institute of Architects. He is registered in Florida, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, and Louisiana.
